The beginning: Construction in 1723

Fredensborg Store Kro has a long and exciting history behind it ever since it was built at the same time as its big brother Fredensborg Castle in 1723. It has had a central place in Fredensborg's history as the center of royal events, a luxury residence for the bourgeoisie and a cultural attraction for all who were interested. in Danish history and architecture.

The vision of CABINN

There is no doubt that the idea of getting the opportunity to take over and run this historic place has often crossed our minds in our journey through life, especially after our move to Fredensborg municipality in 1996. At that time, our focus was on visionary ideas about to revolutionize the hotel industry with a completely new hotel concept that should enable ordinary people to spend the night in the best location in the city at the best price. Small functional rooms – ship cabins on land was the concept called in the press, and the company CABINN is one of the strongest hotel companies in Denmark to this day with 11 hotels distributed throughout Denmark.

The takeover of Fredensborg Store Kro

It is our intention with Fredensborg Store Kro to combine the best features of our now well-known hotel company CABINN with the many years of experience we have in building construction and accommodation, and the unique opportunities that lie on the site.

Renovation and Modernization

Since the acquisition of Fredensborg Store Kro in 2013, we have brought the magic back to the inn. We have completely renovated the inn in stages and tried to retain the charm and soul of the place. All of the inn's operational functions have been modernized so that today we can run a modern business in a historic setting.

Modern Facilities

Today, Fredensborg Store Kro houses a popular and well-run à la carte bistro, which is open for lunch and dinner. In addition, we have 7 different plenary rooms, which are used daily for meetings, conferences and company guests. Success is growing at the inn, and therefore we saw a need for room expansion in 2020, which today results in us having over 100 rooms in 2021.
